Eighty Days of Accountability

A peek-a-boo view from halfway up the mountain. The views from the summit are going to be outstanding.

When you post daily on the #100DaysofWriting Challenge, you don’t always “see” how much progress you’ve really made. It’s a little like hiking a steep trail in the deep woods. You know by your heart rate, ragged breathing, and leg fatigue that you’ve been working hard, but it’s not until you get a peek-a-boo view that you realize how much you’ve already accomplished.

These 20-day check-ins are the peek-a-boo views on my journey to the summit (published book). In the past 20 days, I finished the third draft (including rewrite, edit, and polish) of my first book. I sent that draft to my editor. I loosely plotted Book 2 of the series. AND (but wait, there’s more!) I’ve already written 14 chapters of Book 2.

As writers, we struggle and toil in whatever our writing process is so that we get to say, “That’s a hell of a view, folks.” as we hold our published book in our sweaty hands.  For me, it seems to work best to have daily accountability.

What have you accomplished in the last 20 days?
