Welcome, 2025

There’s something magical about the fresh start a new year brings, isn’t there? Right now, 2025 is like a blank journal. A journal where nothing’s been written. Everything is still possible.

It’s also like stepping onto a beach at sunrise, with a whole day of possibilities stretching before you. This is the energy I’m leaning into as I wade through the words I’ve written for Ink and Waves.

The first draft is done (yay!), and I’m halfway through revisions. This part feels a bit like combing through a tidepool, carefully picking out treasures while tossing aside the seaweed. Some sections sparkle with clarity, while others… well, let’s just say they need a little more polishing before they shine.

Revising isn’t easy, but it’s where the story truly comes to life. It’s the stage where the characters’ voices grow stronger, the plot threads weave tighter, and the emotional heart of the book beats louder. Each pass brings me closer to the story I’ve dreamed of sharing with you.

As much as I want it to be right, I also want it to be done. This means a major goal for 2025 is to not let perfectionism impede progress.

All Work and No Play…

Balancing my creative energy and time has been an adventure of its own.

Lately, I’ve been diving into underwater photography (literally!). Unlike warm water diving, SCUBA diving in the Puget Sound isn’t easy. But viewing and capturing the beauty of our marvelous, local underwater world is utterly worth it.

I’m also planning my 2025 garden, dreaming up rows of vibrant blooms and delicious vegetables.

Like pulling together a book, these pursuits also require work. And like a book, the results are so, so rewarding. Moreover, these activities feed my soul and keep my creativity flowing for Ink and Waves.

To my fellow creatives, let’s make 2025 the year we take our projects to the next level. Here’s to fresh perspectives, bold revisions, and the satisfaction of crafting something we’re proud of. Cheers to us—and to the adventures ahead.

Happy 2025, everyone!
